12 Books of Christmas: The Selection

The second book of the 12 Books of Christmas extravaganza is...

The Selection by Kiera Cass
Blurb:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself--and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
Don't you just love the cover of this book?!

Have you read this book? If so, what rating would you give it? If not, why do you want to read it?

Yep! I read this book during the summer. It was an interesting concept and I was fascinated by it. I am currently waiting for the second book in the trilogy to come out!

I give this book 4 stars!

Why did you pick this book as one of your twelve this Christmas?

I picked this book because it's original yet not. It's set in this world where everyone is separated by the castes they are born into (original) but it's similar to The Bachelor because of the contest (not original). What really fascinated me was the world this book is placed in (very original).

I think everyone should read a book that has both original and unoriginal parts to it, because it makes (hopefully) for a great book.

What's the age limit for this book?

This book is for people 13 years and up.

Yours,
